There are several honor ensembles available for NHS Band students to participate in. Students from across the region audition for a coveted spot in these ensembles, and if selected they get an opportunity to work with a national caliber conductor and play with some of the best students in the region, all before putting on a concert at the end of the weekend.
The all-state band audition is in two rounds: one is a live audition, usually at Southeastern, and the second round is a recorded audition, usually at Mandeville High. The first round is usually in September.
The District IX Honor Band is comprised of the top students in St. Helena, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Washington parishes.
Students will learn set 1 (A and B) available here. You only need to play the audition material inside the brackets.
