Ensembles

Panther Pride Marching Band

The Panther Pride Marching Band consists of all members of the Northshore High Band and Colorguard program. This approximately 100 member ensemble travels and performs at all Varsity football games, including away games, and participates in regional Mardi Gras parades.

A slightly smaller group makes up the Competition Band that travels to regional competitions, culminating in the Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands State Championship at Cajun Field in Lafayette. Northshore is a 7-time State Marching Finalist, and has earned an overall Superior Rating at Showcase an impressive 21 of the past 22 years. The band also consistently wins Best in Class awards at other contests across south Louisiana.

Concert Ensembles

Wind Symphony

The Northshore High Wind Symphony, under the direction of Mr. Joshua Stearman, is the premiere concert ensemble in our school. The Wind Symphony is an audition-only group that performs advanced college level repertoire. The Wind Symphony regularly performs at District Concert Assessment and consistently scores Sweepstakes, the highest possible awards.

Concert Band

The Concert Band, under Mr. Jess Lambert, is an ensemble for younger musicians and students on secondary instruments to perform high school literature at a high level of technical and musical accuracy. The Concert Band allows for younger students to receive more individualized attention for future success in the band program. The Concert Band also performs at District Concert Assessment and receives Superior Ratings and Sweepstakes awards.

Jazz Band

The newest offering for students is the Northshore High Jazz Ensemble. Under the direction of Mr. Jess Lambert, the Jazz Ensemble introduces jazz style, articulation, independence, and improvisation. The Jazz Ensemble plays in the community, at concerts, as well as at annual Jazz Competitions.

Colorguard

The colorguard program is divided into two distinct seasons, fall guard and winterguard. To participate in the winterguard, a student must be a member of either the fall guard or the marching band.

The colorguard program introduces the basics of dance, as well as equipment control by learning twirling and tossing flags, rifles, and sabres. The fall guard regularly wins superior ratings and best in class awards, and the winterguard travels across Louisiana and the Gulf South competing in Scholastic AA class. In 2022, the Northshore Winterguard was the highest scoring group in St. Tammany Parish at the Circuit Championships, and in 2023 the Winterguard was awarded a Bronze Medal at championships and promoted from Scholastic Regional A class to Scholastic AA class.
